TransPacific Media & BZani Studio was formed by two old friends, Granger Whitelaw and Greg Manwaring when Granger suggested that they team up and form a studio that will create new animation content using original IP that Greg could provide.
As Granger is based in Singapore & Vietnam, the two formed TPM, and they opened BZani Animation Studios in Ho Chi Minh City, a perfect location for employing many of the hundreds of fantastic animation artists that live there.
First conceived by Animator, and ‘Hoosier’ (Indiana native), Greg Manwaring (Roger Rabbit, Ren & Stimpy), the shows ‘fish out of water’ concept really got fleshed out when sitcom writer Terry Haley (Married with Children) came on board as the shows Co-creator.
The humor between these two clicked, and the overall theme and direction for the series were quickly worked out.
The appeal of the characters comes from renowned character designer Rex Hackelberg (Spumco). Visual storytelling comes to us through Moroni Taylor (Ice Age, Iron Giant), Chris Mitchell (Minions, The Simpsons), and John Sanford (Mulan, Megamind).
First out of the gate, TPM merges classic cartoon animation with edgy sitcom-style writing for their new animated series “The Hollywood Hoosiers”!
The show appeals to younger audiences through relatable pre-teen/teenage characters and topical subject matter, while older audiences have the added bonus of the show feeling like an old friend – reminiscent of series like “The Beverly Hillbillies” and “Married with Children.”
The background layouts are overseen by Stephen Lewis (Looney Tunes, Animaniacs). The background paintings are overseen by Dennis Venizelos (Iron Giant, Space Jam 2), and the Animation is overseen by Greg Manwaring and includes the work of Chuck Gammage (Roger Rabbit) and Joe Haidar (Space Jam 2).
The majority of the Animation is wonderfully executed by BZani Studios in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, utilizing veteran animators who have helped make many successful western-style television series. Keeping the schedule and budget on track is former Disney Line Producer, George Mendoza (Lion King 1 ½).
The show’s catchy theme song was created with music by JP Delaire (Prince, Michael Bolton) and Paul Peterson (The Time, The Family) with lyrics provided by Terry Haley and Greg Manwaring.
